Common Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is a psychiatric nurse practitioner?
A PMHNP-BC is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, an advanced-practice clinician trained to evaluate and diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe and manage psychiatric medication, and provide supportive therapy. I am licensed in Maryland and combine medication management with therapy in one place.
Do you accept insurance?
Insurance and billing are handled through Headway, which checks your coverage when you book. In-network plans change over time, so see the Headway booking page for the current list.
Are visits in person or online?
Appointments are offered by telehealth to clients anywhere in Maryland. If you have a question about other visit options, ask when you book through Headway.
What happens at the first appointment?
Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation: a welcoming, nonjudgmental conversation about your history, current concerns, strengths, and goals. From there, we build a treatment plan together, which may include medication, supportive therapy, or both.
Can you prescribe medication?
Yes. As a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, I can prescribe psychiatric medication in Maryland and provide thoughtful, ongoing monitoring as part of every medication plan.
What if I need help right now?
This practice does not provide crisis or emergency services. If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line), or call 911. All are available 24/7.
